We push the boundaries of what’s possible to solve problems and break traditional tradeoffs. Join Coupang now to create an epic experience in this always-on, high-tech, and hyper-connected world.     Role Overview We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer, Security Engineering to lead the design and development of internal platforms, tools, and automation that help protect sensitive data across the organization.  This role is ideal for a software engineer who enjoys building scalable backend systems, working with large-scale data platforms, and partnering with security, privacy, compliance, and engineering teams. You will help improve how the company discovers, reviews, governs, and reduces sensitive data exposure through well-designed software systems and automation.    What You Will Do <ul> <li>Design and build internal platforms and tools to support sensitive data discovery, review workflows, access governance, risk tracking, and remediation. </li> <li>Develop backend services, APIs, data pipelines, and automation workflows that help teams identify, analyze, and reduce sensitive data exposure. </li> <li>Integrate with large-scale data systems such as object storage, databases, data warehouses, streaming platforms, metadata systems, and production services. </li> <li>Work closely with security, data platform, and product engineering teams to translate business and risk requirements into practical engineering solutions. </li> <li>Partner with data owners and platform teams to improve how sensitive data is stored, accessed, transformed, shared, and monitored. </li> </ul> <span data-ccp-charstyle="eop" data-ccp-charstyle-defn="{"ObjectId":"920dbcde-2834-5e15-a5fa-062170b236ba|1","ClassId":1073872969,"Properties":[201342446,"1",201342447,"5",201342448,"3",201342449,"1",469777841,"맑은 고딕",469777842,"Arial",469777843,"新細明體",469777844,"맑은 고딕",201341986,"1",469769226,"맑은 고딕,Arial,新細明體",268442635,"24",469775450,"eop",201340122,"1",134233614,"true",469778129,"eop",335572020,"1",469778324,"Default Paragraph Font"]}">   Basic Qualifications <ul> <li>Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.</li> <li>8+ years of software engineering, systems engineering, or Site Reliability Engineering experience supporting large-scale production environments.</li> <li>Strong technical leadership experience driving complex, cross-functional infrastructure or platform initiatives.</li> <li>Experience designing, building, and operating large-scale distributed systems and cloud-native platforms.</li> <li>Strong understanding of system architecture, networking, operating systems, observability, and performance engineering.</li> <li>Experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS, including compute, storage, networking, containerization, and identity services.</li> <li>Experience developing automation for deployment, monitoring, incident response, and platform operations.</li> <li>Software engineering experience, especially in backend, platform, infrastructure, or distributed systems development. </li> <li>Strong programming and scripting skills, such as Python, Bash, Java,Go,C++, or similar languages. </li> <li>Good understanding of cloud infrastructure, especially AWS services, IAM concepts, permissions, logging, and access patterns.  </li> </ul> Preferred Qualifications <ul> <li>Experience operating mission-critical services with demanding availability, latency, and scalability requirements.</li> <li>Deep expertise in Kubernetes, containers, infrastructure as code, CI/CD, and modern observability platforms.</li> <li>Experience defining and managing Service Level Objectives (SLOs), Service Level Indicators (SLIs), and reliability engineering practices.</li> <li>Track record of improving system reliability, reducing operational burden, and increasing engineering velocity through automation.</li> <li>Experience driving technical strategy and influencing architecture decisions across multiple teams and organizations. </li> </ul> Type of work model Hybrid - Our Hybrid work model: Coupang hybrid work model is designed to enable a culture of collaboration that acts a catalyst to enrich the experience of employees. Employees are required to work at least 2 days in the office per week, with the flexibility to work from home 3 days a week, depending on the role requirement.
